About me
I bring a unique skillset as I have over 10 years of clinical experience as an Exercise Physiologist and High-Performance Specialist (Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology) with the Calgary Fire Department and over 10 years of clinical field research in equine sports medicine. I am currently working towards my PhD (Veterinary Medical Sciences), examining the role and relationship of upper airway obstruction in exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage and reduced athletic performance. Despite limited experience with ILO, I have attended the last two conferences and visited Dr. Selby and Dr. Hull at the Royal Brompton to continue learning about ILO.
I have a strong background in comparative physiology and embrace a one-health approach, which I believe is essential for driving innovation. Although ILO research, diagnosis, and treatment options are limited in Canada, there are several clinicians who have shown interest in future collaborations. I believe these partnerships will be beneficial not only for the local community, but also in the context of this global initiative. I am passionate about projects that aim to improve training and enhance performance, but more importantly those that minimize the risk of injury and maximize quality of life.
