About me
I’m a paediatrician and sports physician, currently serving as the Head of Department of Sports Medicine at the Norwegian School of Sport Science in Oslo. For the past decade, I have had the privilege of leading the Bergen ILO Group, a multi professional research team dedicated to exploring various aspects of inducible laryngeal obstruction (ILO). My primary goal is to elevate laryngeal issues as a vital dynamic cause of respiratory problems. Currently, I’m the PI for the ongoing project www.HelpILO.com , including the first RCT on EILO treatment. My expertise lies particularly in the context of sports-related breathing problems, including exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction (EILO). I have contributed to International Olympic Committee guidelines on respiratory illness in athletes. As a co-founder of GIILO, I have the honour of serving as the Chair, enthusiastically working to raise awareness about ILO.
